The start of the second annual 12/12 softball cricket tournament organised by the Guyana Softball Cricket League Incorporated (GSCL) has been postponed.
The tournament was initially scheduled to commence on Sunday following an opening ceremony at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue but the organisers opted to reschedule the tournament owing to the staging of the final match of the Guyana leg of the inaugural Limacol Caribbean Premier League.
The new date for the 12/12 series is set for August 10 at the same venue, with matches being played alternately at the Everest Cricket Club ground. The quarterfinals and finals set to be played the following weekend.
The 12 teams will be divided into four groups of three, wherein the two top teams will advance to the quarterfinals stage.
A top prize of $600,000 is up for grabs and interested teams can still submit their registration by calling 225-4802, 623-2704 or 653-5374. The registration fee is $50,000 per team.
The closing date for submission of all registration is next Wednesday, with the drawing and launching set to take place on the same day at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation Sports Club (GNIC) at 17:30hrs.
