GFA Players Cup restarts today

The inaugural Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Players Cup recommences today at the Tucville Community Centre ground with two fixtures.

The tournament which is sponsored by Banks DIH limited was halted due to the inclement weather. In the opening game at 6pm, Beacons FC will oppose Kitty-based unit Northern Rangers FC.

Leading national club side Alpha ‘the Hammer’ United will look to continue their dominance when they lock horns with Black Pearl FC in the feature contest of the evening at 8pm.

Alpha United coach Wayne Dover in an invited comment told this newspaper, “While we will feel a second string team and wont risk any of our major players, we will be going out looking for a positive result. I expect the players to go out there and execute the plan and get the win.”

Coach of the Black Pearl side Peter Gulliver in a pre-match comment said, “My team is not in the best of shape because we have not been training a lot due to the weather.

However we will try our best to hold them to a draw.”
