Decision for CCC to remain in regional competition, for at least this season, was taken at the WICB’s directors meeting in St. Kitts over the weekend.

WICB was considering ending the participating of CCC as a result of commercial considerations, CEO Michael Muirhead had indicated.

However, regional cricket administrators decided against the proposal after concern was raised in several quarters and CCC players protested during a news conference in Barbados.

“The board took a decision to extend a special invitation to the Combined Campuses Colleges (CCC) to participate in the 2014 edition of the WICB Super50 Tournament,” said a statement from WICB.

“The six territorial teams – Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and Windward Islands – will participate in the tournament, along with Ireland and the CCC”.

The WICB’s directors meeting also revealed that a major sponsor has been secured for the Regional Super50, which has not been sponsored for several seasons.

The WICB also approved a training programme for umpires and match referees as well as the draft schedule for the WICB Super50 Tournament and the Regional Four-Day Tournament, backed up by a decision to play seven day/night matches.

A decision was also taken to participate in an international Women’s Champion-ship following a request by the ICC.
