Jamaican father shot dead outside of school

(Jamaica Gleaner) A father of seven was yesterday morning murdered in front of three of his children as he took them to school.

The killing of Rohan ‘Shortman’ Newman by three gunmen at the entrance to the Tarrant Primary School has left teachers and students as well as members of the adjoining community in shock.

Three of Newman’s young children – ages two, four and seven – witnessed their father being gunned down.

A fourth child who is just six months old will never really get to know his dad.

The children’s mother was also in the vehicle when the incident occurred.

Newman was dropping off one of the children at the entrance to the school about 7:45, when three gunmen pounced.
