Why can’t the Regma school road in Linden be fixed?

Dear Editor,

For the hundredth time, isn’t there anyone in authority, with the responsibility or decency to make a case for something proper to be done to have a much better, less hazardous and accident prone road than this present track which poses for a road leading to Regma Primary School?

The Regma Primary School road is such a simple case; you can win with hands down. You don’t even have to debate it; just take the relevant authorities there on a rainy day and the evidence will be overwhelming – without a single word having to be spoken!

You mean to tell me that there isn’t a single senior functionary who has seen this road on a rainy day – even on a dry day for that matter, it is that bad ‒ and none of them has ever been spoken to concerning it? What of the Headmistress? Have she and her staff made representation to have it properly done?

A thousand cars – taxis – traverse that road twice per day, taking children to and fro, in addition to other vehicles. Students and other pedestrians are forced to scuttle onto the high mounds of grass on both sides of the road to avoid the water that settles on it; vehicles jostle each other to avoid the large pools of water, and two vehicles can hardly cross simultaneously.  Look, it’s just disgusting, sickening. But it appears as if no one cares; some just grumble and keep moving.

It sure reinforces the saying: ‘The people get the kind of government they deserve.’

Yours faithfully,

Frank Fyffe
