No landline phones in Edinburgh EBB

Dear Editor,

I’m very frustrated as I write this letter, and so are all the other residents of Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice who have been without a landline telephone service since last year.

We depend on the phones to make important calls because using cell phones can be very costly and at times, very unreliable.

We have informed senior officers from the Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Co in New Amsterdam several times. They just keep promising us all the time that they would ensure that the service is restored. Unfortunately, they have made no effort so far to come. This is totally unfair because we have to continue to pay for a service that we are not benefiting from.

We are also unable to access the internet service and it’s such a shame this is happening in this day and age of technology. We are begging for GT&T to fix our phones now.

Yours faithfully,
