Richardson scores twice in Alpha’s 4-0 win over Young Achievers

Star striker Gregory “Jackie Chan” Richardson’s  double set up a comprehensive 4-0 win for Alpha “The Hammer” United who trounced Pouderoyen Young Achievers on Sunday as the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Premier League continued at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Ground.

Richardson, who found the back of the net in the 69th and 90th minutes respectively, received support from Andrew Murray Jr., who scored in the 23rd minute and Sheldon Holder who drew first blood 11 minutes into the game, as Alpha FC strolled to a comfortable win in the second game of the day.

Earlier in the first game, Riddim Squad overcame Grove Hi-Tech thanks to penalty strikes after both teams struggled to brake the shackles during their allotted 90-minute encounter.

At the sound of the final whistle both teams were left stranded 0-0 before the eventual winners bettered their rivals in the penalty phase, wrapping up proceedings with a score line of 5-4.

In the final game of the day, Hubert Pedro and Mervin Joseph joined forces to seal a two-nil victory for Western Tigers who defeated the boys from Den Amstel. Pedro, who scored in the 28th minute, set the tone for Joseph who struck in the 75th minute, which was the foundation for the Tigers’ victory.

The action continues this Saturday when the army boys from the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) square-off against BV Triumph at the GDF Ground at 15:30hrs while in Berbice, at the NO #5 Ground, New Amsterdam United will battle Winners Connection at 18:00hrs and Rosignol United play Milerock at 20:00hrs.
