Logan, Lopes win singles titles

Chase Academy’s Sunil Logan was crowned the U18 singles champion, after he defeated St. Stanislaus’s Elishaba Johnson 3-1 when the Business School Team table tennis tournament concluded on Monday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.

Logan clinched the title, winning 11-5, 12-10, 6-11 and 11-9.

St. Stanislaus’s Kevin Corbin and Mae’s Alex Hopkinson were adjudged joint third.

In the U15 division, Marian Academy’s Kristie Lopes defeated schoolmate Priscilla Greaves 9-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-7 and 12-10 to clinch the crown. The third place accolade was shared by Randy Rambarran of St. Rose’s and Dante DaSilva of Mae’s.

Khalil Ninvalle of the Mae’s School defeated Rama Krishna’s Terrence Rausch 11-8, 11-6, 6-11 and 11-9 to claim the U13 crown. Sharing the third place title were Jamal Nicholas and Nicholas Romain of Central High.

In the U11 division, Kaysan Ninvalle was adjudged the champion due to his superior win/loss ratio after finishing in a three-way tie with Abigail Martin and Neveah Clarkston.

Stephon Rupan of Central High was crowned the novices’ champion, defeating fellow school mate Romario Hemraj 11-7, 8-11, 11-8 and 12-10. The third place position went jointly to Marian Academy’s Bradley Chin and Central High’s Kevon Williams.
