Doctors should give return dates for patients not clerks

Dear Editor,
There is a bad system at the Eye Clinic of the Georgetown Public Hospital that needs to be changed to better serve patients. On a daily basis, patients from all over go there in a can’t- do-better situation because of financial constraints.
The doctor should be the one to give the return date and not the clerk, who does not know anything about the patient’s condition or how serious it could be. Perhaps some patients are given a date to return in three months, for example, during which time a worrying situation could develop.
Patients will feel much happier, more satisfied and more comfortable to get a return date directly from the doctor.

Yours faithfully,
