Demerara Rotary installs 2014-2015 board

The Rotary Club of Demerara installed their board for 2014-2015 at a ceremony held last Tuesday at the Pegasus hotel.

Incorporating the theme ‘Light up Rotary,’ incoming president Gillian Mohabeer outlined her plans for the New Year which includes continued work in prisoner education in the Georgetown prison, membership retention, Gift of Life projects focusing on children with heart ailments, more medical outreach exercises to the hinterland areas and continued vocational education in the local schools.

The Demerara Rotary Club undertakes several medical outreaches every year, particularly in the far-flung areas to offer villagers tests and treatment for ailments like diabetes, hypertension, dental checks and general health education.
