Joshua Higgins, 18, who was injured during an alleged motorcycle race at Goed Intent, West Bank Demerara (WBD) is still hospitalised following the Saturday night incident.

Higgins remains a patient of the Georg-etown Public Hospital (GPH) and yesterday told Stabroek News that he is recovering well. The young man sustained injuries to his left leg and right hand and added that he is expected to be discharged when his leg heals.

Higgins was unable to recount the events of the accident but told this newspaper that everything

happened so quickly.

He further said that he was admitted on Saturday and was able to fortunately avoid the High Dependency Unit of the hospital.

Sunil Brijhuram, 21, was not as fortunate and succumbed to his injuries following the accident.

Higgins and Brijhuram, both of Vive La Force, West Bank Demerara, were riding their motorcycles at a fast rate around 11 pm along the Goed Intent roadway when they both lost control and collided with a policeman’s parked car, PJJ 2340. From all indications, the duo had been racing.

They were both rushed to the GPH, where Brijhuram died while receiving treatment.
