Transportation ease for David Rose Special School

Minister of Education Priya Manickchand yesterday officially presented a new bus to the David Rose Special School to be used for the transporting of students.

At the handing over ceremony, Manickchand said while it may appear to be a small thing in the eyes of others, the bus will have a positive impact in the development of children with special needs. The minister also related that the intention to make sure that children with special needs have access to an education is outlined in the Ministry of Education’s five-year strategic plan.

Head Mistress Dionne McKenzie extended her gratitude to the minister. She then continued to say that apart from the bus being donated, the school also wishes to have an extension done to the building so as to accommodate six other classes and the provision of additional transportation so that students from as far as Parika would get to school.

The David Rose Special School was opened on May 8, 1968. There are currently 169 students attending the school.
