Scotiabank offering higher cash back, other rewards on new Gold MasterCard

Scotiabank Guyana has relaunched its Gold MasterCard which boasts higher cash back on purchases and other rewards for both its current and new cardholders.

Cardholders will enjoy higher cash back on purchases made locally and abroad from September 1, Scotiabank said in a press release. This entails 3% for transactions at gas stations and grocery stores, 2% for purchases made at pharmacies and drug stores and 1% everywhere else. “There are annual caps on what cardholders can earn on the 3% and the 2% cash back, but no limit on the amount earned on the 1% cash back,” the bank said. Customers will earn 3% on the first US$20,000 (or local currency equivalent) at qualifying gas stations and grocery stores up to a maximum cash back of US$600.00 (or local currency equivalent).

They will earn 2% on the first US$20,000 (or local currency equivalent) at qualifying drug stores and pharmacies up to a maximum cash back of US$400.00 (or local currency equivalent). After they reach the maximum amount, they will earn 1% on the remaining purchases.

Cardholders will be able to track their cash back earnings monthly via their credit card statements and will receive their cash back rewards annually in November. The accrued cash back amount shown on their statement will be credited to their Scotiabank Gold MasterCard account on their November statements.

Single persons who earn over $160,000 monthly or couples whose combined monthly income is $240,000 or more are eligible to apply for a Scotiabank Gold MasterCard. The minimum credit limit once can apply for is $300,000.

Scotiabank Standard MasterCard customers, who qualify under the minimum income requirement, are free to apply for an upgrade to their Gold MasterCard, which it says currently offers the best value to customers in this market.

Scotiabank credit cards can be used to shop at local and overseas merchants in store or online.
