PPP observes 38th anniversary of Cubana airline bombing

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) says it stands in solidarity with the Government and People of Cuba as it observes the 38th anniversary of the Cubana airline bombing in which 11 Guyanese perished.

In a press release issued yesterday, the party recalled that six of the 11 Guyanese killed when a bomb exploded aboard Cubana Airlines Flight 455 were scholars on their way to pursue studies in Cuba. Seventy-three persons lost their lives when the airline exploded on October 6, 1976.

It has now been established the two Venezuelan mercenaries Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch were responsible for a bomb being planted on the airline during a journey from Trinidad to Barbados.

The PPP has also noted that the two “confessed murderers” who have close links to the CIA continue to live freely in Miami, Florida.

The party called on the United States to take measures to bring to justice all those responsible for the atrocity, including the intellectual authors of the crime.
