Has Guyana “stepped up’ to combat Ebola?

Dear Editor,

While a USA hospital deals with its third Ebola patient, the situation in West Africa is getting increasingly dire and worrying for us here in Guyana

More than 4,000 people have died from Ebola this year in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. And now we learn of a first case in the U.S.A.

And there could be 10,000 new Ebola cases per week in the three countries by the end of this year as the outbreak spreads, the World Health Organization warned on Tuesday.

US President Barack Obama says he’ll reach out directly to heads of state to encourage other countries to do more to fight back.

Could the Ministry of Health assure us here in Guyana what pragmatically they have already done and also what medical infrastructure they have in place to combat this deadly fearful scourge?

No beating around the bush with verbal politics.

The President of the USA, Mr Obama is reported as stating that “There are a number of countries that have capacity that have not yet stepped up, Those that have stepped up, all of us, are going to have to do more.”

Has Guyana “stepped up’ to combat Ebola? Let the nation know, please!

Yours faithfully,
