Man charged with attempted murder over barbecue stabbing incident

A man was yesterday slapped with the charge of attempted murder in the Whim Magistrate’s Court.

Derrick David appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh and was placed on $150,000 bail and is expected to return on December 20.

It is alleged that on November 29, at Whim Village, Corentyne, Berbice, David and Anand Deosarran were at a barbecue and dance when they became involved in a heated argument which resulted in Deosarran being stabbed in the region of his neck with a Guinness bottle.

He was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was admitted and received medical attention.
