Tuschen chopping victim recovering

Geeta Boodhoo, the victim of a gruesome attack by her estranged husband last Thursday, has been moved from the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital to another ward in the hospital. Meanwhile the man’s son has since been held.

According to a source at the hospital, the woman’s condition has improved and as such she was removed from the unit.

On Thursday, the jilted cane-cutter Joshua Franklyn smashed through a window and started his chopping spree on Boodhoo, her mother, her daughter and her alleged lover. The incident occurred at Phase Two Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo around 12. 30 am.

Three persons were killed in the attack. Bibi Zalima Khan, 55, of Endeavour, Leguan and Ashley Boodhoo, Boodhoo’s 9-year-old daughter, were found dead in the small house while Floyd Drakes, 30, of Tuschen Scheme was found behind a latrine in the yard.

Boodhoo managed to escape the attack. She sustained severe chops wounds to her shoulder and her hand. Her left hand was severed.

Police are still on the hunt for the Franklyn, who has since gone into hiding. According to a police source his son was held in connection with the killing.
