Disabilities council elects new executive

Leon Walcott was re-elected to chair the Guyana Council of Organisations for Persons with Disabilities when the group hosted its second biennial general meeting late last month.

Walcott returned to the post unopposed to serve a second two-year term, a press release from the group said.

Other members elected to the executive body are Cecil Morris, vice-chairman; Rennata Ifill, secretary; Lynette DeWeaver, assistant secretary; Theresa Pemberton, treasurer; and Ganesh Singh, PRO. The other committee members are Mark Archibald, Compton Wilson and Genevieve McDonald.

The Guyana Council of Organisations for Persons with Disabilities is a collaborative forum that was established in January 2008.

It comprises 23 different organisations representing persons with disabilities.
