A Buxton man was on Monday charged with illegal possession of a revolver when he appeared in a city court.
Deryck Raymond, 22, denied that he was in possession of a .32 revolver, without being the holder of a firearm licence, on May 9 at Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara, when the charge was read by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
According to Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru, police acting on information conducted a stake-out in the area, and observed the defendant.
Mangru said the police approached Raymond and conducted a search that revealed the firearm in his waist, above his left side pants pocket.
Raymond, who told the court that he was a seaman, was remanded to prison.
The case was adjourned to May 16 and transferred to the Vigilance Magis-trate’s Court.
