Stray catcher stole tape deck from Home Ministry

A stray catcher was yesterday charged with stealing a tape deck from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Shaheed Ramsahoi, of 133 Second Street, Montrose, was charged with the May 23 theft of a $40,000 Phillips tape deck, which was the property of the ministry. He denied the allegation when it was put to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry in the city.

Prosecutor Bharat Mangru raised no objections to bail and stated that the facts were as presented. Ramsahoi was granted $30,000 bail and the next hearing was set for June 9 at Court Six.
