Plaisance man charged with threatening ex-wife with bottle assault

Gavin Primo, who allegedly pulled his former wife out of a minibus and threatened to assault her with a bottle, was released on $10,000 bail yesterday after denying the charge.

Primo, 39, of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara initially pleaded guilty to the charge of threatening Samantha Ferina on December 8, in Georgetown.

The police’s case is that Ferina was in a Route 50 minibus when Primo pulled her out.

She struggled with him and managed to escape from his hold and returned inside the bus but police say the man then picked up a bottle and advanced towards her while threatening to lash her.

His attempt was, however, unsuccessful since public-spirited citizens subdued him.

Prosecutor Deniro Jones further stated that the couple separated two months ago after being together for eight years.

After the police’s case was related to the court, Primo denied the allegations against him. “I buy a beer and I never say I will lash her. I went to the bus to call her out to talk to her because she throw me out of the house two months now.

I de just want talk over things with her to see who right and who wrong, since a hear she seeing someone else,” the unrepresented man stated.

After Primo denied the allegations, the court entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Magistrate Ann McLennan then placed him on a bond to be of good behaviour until the completion of his trial and he was released on $10,000 bail. His case was adjourned until December 15, when it will be called at Courts 8 & 9.
