Cop held after $7M goes missing from Leonora station

A policeman was arrested last week after millions of dollars from the Finance Department at the Leonora Police Station was discovered missing and according to Divisional Commander Ian Amsterdam the investigation is ongoing.

Asked for an update yesterday Amsterdam stated that the auditors are currently doing checks and “we are looking to pursue a criminal investigation”.

Stabroek News understands that it is estimated that at least $7M is unaccounted for. The money represents sums for various things including child support and bail.
