Former T20 star Khan slams ton in Chesney win

Former Guyana T20 batting star Imran Khan slammed a pugnacious century, steering Chesney to a massive 157-run win over Jai Hind in the ongoing 2014 New Building Society (NBS) second division limited overs competition in Berbice.

Khan, the ex-Stanford T20 player, rolled back the year in slamming 126 an innigs which included 13 fours and 8 sixes.

It was his second century of the competition.

Zameer Khan with 62 (4×4 1×6) and former Berbice T20 cricketer Shastri Persaud with 52 (1×4 5×6), also helped guide Chesney to 321 for 6 in 40 overs.

In reply, Jai Hind was routed for 164 in 35 overs with Khemraj Sumair’s 28 being the top score.

Safraz Khan snared 4 for 20.

The win ensured Chesney who have finished all of their preliminary matches end on top of Zone I and becoming one of the first teams to earn a place in the last 16 play-offs.

Paul Campbell took 3 for 15, Bisnauth Jhappan 2 for 30 and David Hinds 2 for 41. Young Adventurers 87 all out in 20.5 overs with Khemraj Paltu 3 for 22, Komal Ganesh 2 for 5 and Lakeram Paltu 2 for 32.

At Belvedere, Tamarind Root beat Belvedere Battle Steel by nine wickets. Belvedere Battle Steel 62 in 7.5 overs. Dilip Rengasammy 3 for 15, Samuel Deonarine 2 for 3 and Adrian Singh 2 for 12.
