Woman robbed of chain, phone and shoes on Christmas Day

Corentyne man was refused bail in the Albion Magistrate Court on Tuesday after he was charged with robbery with violence.

The case against 21-year-old Ronden Chisolm, a labourer, was that he robbed Ohehia De Souza on December 25, 2014, of one gold chain worth $20,000 a Blu cellular phone valued $45,000 and a pair of shoes valued $5,000. The charge also stated that during the time of the robbery the accused made use of person violence on De Souza.

Chisolm pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Rabindranath Singh.

According to the police, on the day in question, De Souza was confronted by the accused who took away her chain and dealt her cuffs to her body. He then proceeded to take away her phone and shoes before throwing her on the ground and escaping, the court was told.

He is expected to return to court on January 23, 2015.
