At about 1245h. today, the police say that Robert Charles, 48 years, of Middle Walk, Victoria, ECD, was attacked and robbed of $1M by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Investigations revealed that Charles was driving motor canter GSS 1177 and had stopped at the traffic light at Sheriff Street and Rupert Craig Highway, when the perpetrators drove up on a motor cycle. The police say that the pillion rider discharged a round shattering the windscreen and they relieved him of a haversack containing the cash and escaped.
Investigations are continuing.
