Nursing assistants graduate

Fifteen nursing assistants have joined the local healthcare system as the first batch graduated from the nurses’ evening class programme, GINA said.

According to Minister of Health Dr. Bheri Ramsaran, the move to establish the evening classes was influenced by the need for more professionals, as well as classroom space during the course of the day.

Another contributing factor was need for tutors who also weren’t available in the day due to their employment commitments.

GINA said he emphasised that during a short period of time, the ministry invested almost $478 million in training of its medical professionals.
