I am writing in relation to an article published in your newspaper on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 on page 12 titled ‘Woman fined $10,000 for damaging judge’s vehicle.’
In the third paragraph of your article, you make several erroneous and inaccurate statements.
Firstly, you report that my lawyer pleaded that no injury was inflicted on Justice Singh and secondly, that he further suggested that I had become provoked and enraged.
Neither of these statements is correct. At no time was there any reference by either my lawyer or myself to any injury to Justice Singh as a fact of consideration by the court, neither did my lawyer or I ever suggest that there was any provocation.
I find it interesting that the charge of “Threatening language where a breach of peace may occur” where the same judge was the complainant and which was dismissed despite the testimony of the judge, was not mentioned in your article.
It is my hope that in the future, in reporting on matters like this, you may wish to consider getting both sides of the story or referring to the court files.
