Wafugee website offers new options for local consumers

Two inventive Guyanese, Valmiki Bankay and Michael Williams, have created a social and business web application, Wafugee, which they say can help users “to connect to people, places, products and services in one convenient location on a single dashboard.”

Accordingly, they challenge Guyanese to log in to www.wafugee.com “and experience what we have for you.” During a recent conversation with Stabroek Business, Bankay outlined the services which Wafugee has already begun to offer. He said that Wafugee social allows users to “post stuff on your wall, send and receive files, ‘message’ friends, share pictures and other information and benefit from a range of other interactive services. He says that businesses can use the portal to create product-promotion profiles and for branding.

Wafugee Friend Lists enables users to access lists of friends and related profile information and to remain in constant communication.

And according to Bankay, Wafugee “merges social media and business in one location opening new opportunities for marketing. We will explore the use of algorithms, codes, filters and applications to align markets to consumers in a revolutionary search approach to target marketing,” he said.

The Wafugee service offers a Classified section, a Business Directory (that allows users to list their business information for public access as well as to benefit from access to the GT&T Telephone Directory. Bankay further disclosed that Wafugee offers a “store” which allows users to list items available for sale and which can be invaluable in marketing and advertising campaigns.

Bankay said the Wafugee team has “high hopes” for its ‘employment exchange’ provided in two modules listed as “Vacancy” and “CV”: The former module allows employers to create and post vacancies whilst the applicant is allowed to provide personal details in response to the posted vacancy. “Hit your Apply Tab and that’s it! You have applied for the job in two minutes. The employer can open a dropdown marked “Actions” in the vacancy tab and will receive and process all the applications right there.”

The facility also allows for the publication of resumes.

Wafugee Realty provides a range of interesting features for the sector and Bankay invites persons to “use the many features of this application and enjoy an unprecedented experience in the realty business in Guyana.”

Bankay said the creators of Wafugee are “excited” about its prospects. “We believe that these applications will serve as the nerve centre for aligning suppliers to target markets in an interactive approach to the search for products and services, reaping significant productivity benefits for both businesses and their customers.

Businesses might also be interested to know that “we are working with stakeholders to develop a Wafugee estimation template (Bills of Quantity) for the constructing sector that will examine local industry standards and develop equations for each line item in your quantity column to derive what amounts are needed when you enter the measurements as read off from your drawings. Additionally, Wafugee will align hardware suppliers, saw millers, concrete suppliers, builders, plumbers, electricians and other personnel and services to provide prices, specifications, and other information necessary for the completion of estimates.”
