Four fined for driving under the influence

Four more motorists have been fined for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said Dwayne Williams, of Lot 30 Virginia Village, Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser on February 22nd, while driving a bus on the Madewini Public Road, East Bank Demerara. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on February 27th, where he pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.

Robert Liverpool, of Lot 10 Welcome Street, Mocha, East Bank Demerara, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser on March 1st, police also said. At the time he was driving a bus on the Madewini Public Road. He too was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Providence Magistrate Court on March 5th and was fined $7,500 after pleading guilty.

Glendon Leitch, of Lot 7 First Street, Manchester, Corentyne, was stopped and tested with a breathalyser while driving a car on the Providence Public Road, East Bank Demerara. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on March 13, where he pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.

Also caught on the same day was Vishal Tulsie, of Lot 839 Kaneville, East Bank Demerara. At the time he was riding a motorbike on the Diamond Public Road, East Bank Demerara. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was subsequently charged and appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on March 13th, and he too was fined $7,500 after a guilty plea.
