Robeson Benn’s Linden home destroyed by fire

Public Works Minister, Robeson Benn received a call last evening informing that his family’s home in Linden had burned down.

He told Stabroek News last night that fire engines were dispatched and he received a call a little after 17:00hr notifying him   that the house located at   84 Trewern Avenue, Richmond Hill, Linden had been razed. He said that investigations are ongoing, however due to the dry conditions in the area one possibility could be a bush fire that got out of control.

Benn said that the small house was in need of repairs and that since 2007 no work had been done to the home, due to looters removing over half of the roof and appliances and furniture in the years that the family had moved from Linden.

He said that his wife and his children would go to the house and check on it from time to time and to collect plants, but that after looters stole the roof his wife and children would get emotional when visiting the house.

The minister said that he was told that only the concrete foundation re-mained.
