Poor landline service in Essequibo

Dear Editor,

GT&T stands to lose nothing; only customers like me and others who suffer from the improper landline service being provided on the Essequibo Coast.

For my business place a monthly rental of one thousand eight hundred dollars is charged, but with the many defects phone use is seldom possible. Every so often, there is no dial tone, and even when there is one and you try to get a number there is a continuous sound like Chinese music, much to one’s irritation and annoyance.

Sometimes when talking the phone suddenly cuts off bringing an abrupt end to the conversation, which is very disgusting and unacceptable.

Although there is a complaints desk at Anna Regina it is a waste of time going there. I have done so repeatedly but there has been no improvement in the service.

Paying for a service from which the intended benefits are not derived is tantamount to an injustice; it is because of a monopoly in a ‘can’t do better’ situation.

Yours faithfully,

Ishwardin
