Enthusiastic participants expressed their joy and satisfaction with the simplicity of the process and the criteria as the career fair boasted training and acceptance of applicants with no job experience in almost all of its available vacancies.

“It’s really good that I have this opportunity to be able to work part time, considering I am currently a UG student and I also have no job experience,” one applicant explained as she filled out the application form.

“It provides a lot of Guyanese with job opportunities, 200 vacancies? That’s a lot. I am especially glad,” another participant explained.

The event flowed with a simple process – interested applicants either presented their own applications, or filled out an application form provided. After the application form was filled, the applicant was taken through a screening process where he/she would have presented his/her credentials and certificates. After the screening process, applicants were sent through for an interview where some would have been hired on the spot. Vendors Topaz Jewellery, Caribbean Cinemas and Singh’s Roti Shop all participated in the career fair.
