Mason on break-in charge after being caught by homeowner

A young mason has been charged with breaking into a home after he was allegedly found in the house by the homeowner.

Edwando Adams, 18, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on April 9, at Kaneville, he entered the house of Kerwin De Cunha with intent to commit a felony.

The court heard that De Cunha secured his premises before heading out. However, upon his return, he noticed a heavy breeze coming from a back bedroom. Upon investigating, he discovered louvres had been removed from the window. The prosecution related that while making further checks, De Cunha found the would-be thief hiding behind a door in the room. The matter was reported to the police and Adams was held and subsequently charged.

The prosecution made no objections to bail and as a result it was granted to Adams in the amount of $100,000. The matter was transferred to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for April 16.
