Dear Editor,
Political billboards are everywhere. Some, not all, attract and hold one’s attention. Sadly I saw none which spoke to the subject of honesty.
The most arresting one I saw read as follows
Don’t trust Promises
Trust Performance
Re-elect Donald Ramotar
I thought and I wondered and I searched and I found it: Stabroek News 23 November 2011. Presidential Candidate Donald Ramotar speaking at Annandale said “we are going to fight corruption and try to root it out root and branch”.
Promise? I think so. Performance? I leave it to the readers and voters to judge.
