Dear Editor,
The preliminary results have just been declared and my immediate thoughts are that this is no occasion for celebration. This is a sobering moment in our political history.
It is time for us to set aside our petty differences and think about a national solution that might include the hopes and aspirations of the other 49.3% of our people.
A rare opportunity has now been presented to us. The extent to which we rise above the occasion with magnanimity, statesmanship and consideration for each other will demonstrate our maturity as a nation and determine the future of our beloved country.
