Dear Editor,
We welcome the new APNU+AFC administration under President David Granger and would humbly recommend that when consideration is being given to the organization of government ministries that a Ministry of Women’s Affairs with Vice President’s status is considered. The reality is that the previous government was preoccupied with ‘firefighting’ legitimate all round criticisms of their administration to the detriment of this most urgent area of national concern. Women’s rights cannot be divorced from the wider political social and economic environment, and giving it ministerial recognition at the level suggested will go a long way towards solutions.
