Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday granted bail to a single-parent father of two after he pleaded not guilty to unlawfully and malicious wounding.
The charge read that on May 11 in the Meadow Brook area, Darrel Sinclair unlawfully and maliciously wounded Desmond McPherson so as to cause him actual bodily harm.
No facts were presented in court.
Sinclair was initially granted bail in the sum of $65,000, however he begged for the sum to be reduced.
The carpenter explained that he could not afford it as he is the sole caregiver to his two children, who have been staying with neighbours while he was in custody.
Bail was subsequently reduced to $20,000 and he is expected to make his next court appearance on June 3.
