The Ministry of Social Protection yesterday condemned the murder of 68 year old Chandroutie Persaud who was found bound and gagged at her home in Riverview Squatting Area, Mahaica on Saturday 23rd May, 2015.
In recent times, the Ministry said that there has been a “spate of mindless murders particularly of our women folk in spite of efforts made to address and eliminate this scourge.
“The Minister views this situation as deplorable and commits the efforts of the Ministry to combat this wave of heinous crimes and to protect the rights of this vulnerable resource of our society.”
