Guyanese born finance professional donates to UG

Guyanese born financial consultant Dr Shamir Andrew Ally and his wife are donating a quantity of textbooks and other items valued over US$8,000 to the University of Guyana Library.

According to a press release, this is the eighth donation Dr Ally and his wife Dr Maryann Ally, both of North Carolina, USA, have made to Guyana since 2003. The gift comprises managerial accounting, management, leadership, languages and health textbooks, CD-ROMs and videos amounting to US$8,028 or $1,605,600 in value.

Dr Shamir Ally, formerly of Herstelling and Public Road, Providence, East Bank Demerara migrated to the US in 1970 to further his education.

He completed his BBA, MBA and PhD degrees in the US. Dr Ally is president/CEO of his company International Consulting Services based in North Carolina while his wife is a marketing executive at a global pharmaceutical company.

Their numerous donations stems from their belief that education is one of the key drivers to success for individuals and a nation, the press release said.
