Track and Field team departs for PanAm Youth C/ships

A five-member strong national Track and Field team departed yesterday for the South American Association of PanAm Youth Athletics Championships in Cali, Colombia.

The championships take place this weekend with the best youth athletes on the continent vying for medals and a chance to compete at the World Youth Championships

Coach of the sojourn, Sham Johnny said “Cali is a good opportunity for these talented young athletes to record their personal bests and medal and also qualify for World Youth.

“The team is well prepared and I expect them to give a good account of themselves.”

Before departure yesterday Johnny added:“Most of the athletes are coming off a previous championship event and this meet is an added bonus for them to gauge their improvements.”
