Airport technicians held over cocaine in rum find

Two airport technicians are now in police custody assisting with investigations after more than 6 kilogrammes of cocaine was found in bottles of rum carried by an outgoing CJIA passenger.

A police press release said that at about 16:00 hrs on Friday 6 kgs 304 grammes of cocaine was found to be contained in bottles of rum that were in the possession an outgoing overseas-based Guyanese passenger at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA). Subsequent to this discovery the passenger was arrested and after further investigations the two technicians were also detained.

The three men are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
