At about 2020h yesterday, police ranks intercepted a motor vehicle at Stewartville Public Road, WCD, during which they came under fire from one of the men who were in the vehicle, police say.
The police returned fire and the man was hit. He has been identified as Atiba Gardner, 39 years, of Tuschen, EBE, and he is under guard at the GPHC. An unlicensed .32 revolver with five rounds and a spent shell has been recovered by the police.
The two other men who were in the vehicle have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations. The motor vehicle has been detained.
