Dear Editor,
Unlike the majority of Guyana, Kwik is unable to access local radio and live local television programmes. The last time I heard local radio in my home was for the funeral of a foreign president. For my community to follow what is going on in Georgetown, we have to hope some kind-hearted person with a recorded disk lends it to be aired on our local TV channel.
I am suggesting that at least for government news and significant programs, a feed can be streamed to the Learning Channel so that rural communities like mine can be kept up to date. The Kwik Learning Channel is presently down, but we are hoping that it will be fixed before action is taken on our suggestion.
Though many residents are accessing the internet, the level of service offered by GT&T doesn’t permit us to visit certain web sites. We are unable to access the many local radio stations available on the Internet. We are appealing to GT&T to upgrade the Kwik Telephone Exchange so that we can keep abreast of and informed about all the changes that are taking place across Guyana.
