Psychiatric report on man accused of killing 9-yr-old boy still not ready

The court is still awaiting a psychiatric report which was ordered over one month ago on Ryan Bobb-Semple, who was charged with the murder of nine-year-old Shaquan Gittens.

At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 5 yesterday before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, Bobb-Semple made another court appearance which was for the delivery of the psychiatric report but the court heard from Prosecutor Bharrat Mangru that this was not yet ready.

Another date was given, which is June 30 for fixture. The Chief Magistrate had ordered a psychiatric report of the accused after his attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat had told the court that his client was not fit to stand trial.

The body of Gittens of 2950 Well Road, North Ruimveldt was found three days after he went missing, half-naked and bound, in a trench running alongside a dam just off Cane View Avenue, South Ruimveldt.

The boy was clad only in the t-shirt he was last seen in and his hands were tied together with rope. From all indications, he was the victim of a sexual assault prior to his death.

An autopsy performed on Gittens had revealed that he died as a result of compression injury to the neck and asphyxiation due to drowning.
