Street cricket becoming a nuisance

Dear Editor,

Street cricket is becoming a nuisance in many communities.

This is not a game of children alone, but also involving adults.

In many cases some of the players would express anger whenever a vehicle disrupts the game in progress. Sometimes as the vehicle approaches some of the players would signal the driver to pass in the corner of the street so as not to interrupt the wicket.

A few years ago players in front of my house broke one of my windows. It remains broken on to this day because of the position it is in.

I know of another group of players who were involved in a quarrel with a man who did not want them playing ball in front of his house.

I also know of a housewife who would complain to no one in particular about the players causing damage to her plants in front of her fence.

So our street cricketers are really a nuisance even though the people are mostly silent about it.

Our communities need playgrounds so that people will not have to play on the streets. Playgrounds are as important as a health centre in any community.

The relevant authorities should come up with some kind of solution to address this nuisance.

Yours faithfully,
