Cop on forgery charges

A member of the Guyana Police Force found himself on the wrong side of the law when he was charged with several counts of forgery.

Kevin McDonald appeared before a city court yesterday faced with two charges of forging receipts showing payments made to him by Universal Machinery. McDonald was also charged with uttering forged receipts to Yohini Latchman, Principal Assistant Secretary (Finance) at the former Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, knowing them to be forged. The offences were allegedly committed on April 10th and April 16th, 2014.

McDonald pleaded not guilty to all four charges laid against him.

While having no objections to bail, Prosecutor Dinero Jones asked for bail to be set at a substantial sum. Presiding Magistrate Ann McLennan subsequently set bail at $100,000 and transferred the matter to the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court 5 for July 30th.
