Masters-level ballroom dancers square off

The Guyana Teachers Union Hall (GTU) on Woolford Avenue is the venue for an evening of ballroom dancing tomorrow night when the Guyana Ballroom Dancers Association (GBDA) will stage its Masters competition.

Couples from dance schools, including Apex, Let’s Dance, Uprising, New Image, Step Right and Exquisite Ballroom, are expected to participate in the event, where they will compete for cash prizes and trophies.

The winning pair of the Masters competition will receive $120,000 and a trophy, while the second and third placed finishers will receive $70,000 and a trophy and $40,000 and a trophy, respectively.

Judges from Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica are expected to officiate at the event, which will begin at 7:30PM.

In order to enter the competition, pairs must purchase five admission tickets.

President of the GBDA Richard Bynoe said he expects the event to attract the cream of the country’s ballroom dancers, including the popular ‘Mr. T,’ Ann James and Simona Rudder. He said interested persons can contact him on cell phones numbers 664-7687 or 682-3218 for more information.
