Tucville shooting victim dies; arrest warrant issued for suspect

Rayon Clementson, who was shot to his thigh in Tucville on July 14 succumbed to his injuries on Friday night at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

Clementson, 27, of Lot 317 Mocha Arcadia, and Ayodella Solomon, 32, of 13 ‘C’ Tucville were in the vicinity of the Turning Point Snackette in Tucville when they were shot. Previous reports had revealed that Solomon was walking to his Tucville home when he stopped at the Turning Point Snackette to greet his friend and heard a loud bang. He subsequently fell to the ground and heard several more gunshots. Clementson was found sometime later by the police and was taken to the hospital, where he was admitted in a stable condition until his death.

The police yesterday issued a wanted bulletin for Edward Skeete called ‘Pretty Boy’ for questioning in relation to into the murder of Clementson.

According to the police, Skeete is of mixed descent and his last known address is Lot 309 Independence Boulevard, Albouystown, Georgetown. Anyone with information that may lead to his arrest is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-8196, 226-7065, 227-1149, 911 or the nearest police station. All information will be treated with strict confidence.

Skeete had previously faced a murder charge in 2011. He was accused of the murder of Industry businessman Bedi Ramjeiwan, who was shot on April 27, 2011 after being beaten severely in the head with a helmet. Ramjeiwan had been returning home in his car when he was confronted by two men along Crown Dam, Industry, East Coast Demerara. However, earlier this year, Skeete was found not guilty by a 12-member jury.

Meanwhile, efforts to speak to Clementson’s relatives proved futile. When Stabroek News visited his home yesterday it was tightly secured.
