Suspects in sex worker’s murder still eluding cops

Two weeks after wanted bulletins were issued for two suspects in the murder of sex worker Noel Wilson Luthers, the men are yet to be apprehended while the victim’s family remains hopeful about justice.

Luthers, called Nephi, 20, of Lot ZZ D’Urban Street, Wortmanville, was shot dead on July 22nd at Quamina and Carmichael streets. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was rushed after the shooting.

The police had said that Luthers was confronted by two men and one of them shot him to the chest and they escaped.

Other sex workers who were in the vicinity at the time rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshots but the men managed to escape in a vehicle.

The two suspects, Ron Forde, called ‘Andel,’ and Kanand Ojha, were identified from surveillance footage provided to the police.

Joy Noel, Luthers’ mother, on Tuesday told Stabroek News that she was disappointed that no one has yet been arrested. She is hoping that she will receive justice for her son and the case won’t become another unsolved crime. The woman noted that she visited the Brickdam Police Station up to Tuesday and requested to see the commander but was unable to. However, she said she will be returning today since she needs answers about progress in the investigation. Noel added that if she doesn’t get satisfaction from the police, she is considering taking another possible step since she is determined to get justice for her son.
