“We have seen the continuous growth every year, we have seen the benefits hence the reason we will continue to support the meet… We have followed the progress of the event and the management has always made all efforts to bring a quality meet and they have grown from an administrative standpoint,” said Hope a former top athlete himself.

“This could potentially be the biggest track and field meet in Guyana and we want them to continue to do more and do better,” he added.

Colin Boyce, a co-director of the Boyce and Jefford Classic, was appreciative of the support.

“I am happy that they indeed accepted the initiative since our first year and in our sixth edition for the first time we have the Bahamas and Jamaica here.

“We hope to continue to see the development of our athletes and sports in general,” he added.

The two-day event is billed for the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in Linden and lucrative cash prizes will be at stake for the top clubs.
